Khanun: A Word Study on God’s Grace

$0.00

with resources from BibleProject

Just as Adam and Eve’s original job was to reflect God’s character and ways, Jesus invites us to introduce people to God by showing people what He is like. God describes Himself as compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, overflowing with loyal love and faithfulness. The Bible is full of stories of God showing Himself to be these things.

This lesson focuses on the word “gracious.” This probably isn’t a word you say very often. However, it is a word that was very common in the everyday lives of people who were alive when the Bible was being written. Whenever we see the word “gracious” in the Bible we should think of a gift. It’s not just any gift. It’s a beautiful gift that the giver is excited to give.

This study explores:

  • What the Hebrew word for gracious communicates
  • A situation where the Israelites called out for grace
  • God’s response when people admit their failures and ask Him for grace
