Emet: A Word Study on God’s Faithfulness

$0.00

with resources from BibleProject

God describes Himself as compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, overflowing with loyal love and faithfulness. The story of the Bible is deeply connected to the promises that God has made. Over and over again, God promises His people that He will be with them. He will bring blessing to them — even when they rebel against Him.

Everything depends on God actually keeping these promises. As God’s people, Israel has to trust that God will do what He says He will do. And they have to believe God is who He says He is. After all, what good is it for God to say He’s compassionate if He’s not telling the truth? The story of the Bible shows us that God is consistent in holding up His end of the covenants He makes with His people. He never goes back on His word, and He consistently does what He says He will do, even when we don’t do our part.

This study explores:

  • The meaning of the Hebrew word emet
  • What it means that God is full of emet
  • How God showed faithfulness to Abraham and Sarah
