God’s partnerships with people weave all throughout the Bible. The more familiar we become with these partnerships, the more we’ll be able to see how we get to be part of telling and living the Bible’s story.
In fact, the easiest way to remember the major parts of this epic story is to track God’s partnerships with people. It shouldn’t surprise us that God partners with humans. After all, the Bible begins with God partnering with humans. It starts with God and humanity working together to cultivate earth with the life of heaven. Then, the Bible ends with God partnering with humans to rule a united heaven and earth in the love and power of Jesus. In fact, that’s the goal of all of God’s partnerships.
These special partnerships are called covenants. This lesson’s BibleProject video from explores what it means to be in covenant with God:
When we partner with Jesus, we get to join Jesus in partnering with God. When we try to partner with God without Jesus, we end up like every other human we read about in the Bible. But when we follow Jesus, He promises to give us the power to be different. Jesus taught that this partnership starts now and will continue long after He has finished renewing creation and uniting heaven and earth.
