BibleProject makes free resources like videos, podcasts, articles, and classes to help people experience the Bible in a way that is approachable and transformative. They do this by showcasing the literary art of the Scriptures and tracing key biblical themes from Genesis to Revelation.
While BibleProject’s resources were created for adults, their Bible explainer videos captivate kids as well. Because of this, BibleProject commissioned OneStory to design homeschool curriculum using their videos.
We believe BibleProject’s paradigms for reading the Bible are an important foundation for Bible students of all ages. Therefore, you’ll see BibleProject’s resources and influence throughout OneStory’s lessons and materials.

Articles and podcasts recommended for ages 13+
Classes recommended for ages 16+
For all resources, we recommend watching/listening/reading alongside your students. This includes watching the classes with your teens. They really go deep! Try listening to the podcasts together in short segments.
“That the World May Know” is a series of biblical teaching resources led by Ray Vander Laan, a historian and educator known for his work in exploring the historical and cultural contexts of the Bible.
The videos in this series feature Vander Laan teaching groups of students on-site in locations throughout Israel and Greece. These teachings not only help us visualize the context of the Bible, they help us translate its wisdom to following Jesus in our contemporary culture.

[Note from Amber: I first watched these videos as a teen, and they have definitely stood the test of time. I’m amazed at how much I vividly remember. We’re now watching them as a family with our own teens. Our 10 and 12 year olds watch, too! The videos can be a little long for them, but quite a bit still catches their attention.]
“The Chosen” is a multi-season television drama series that portrays the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of those who met and followed him. Not only can you watch it for free via website or app, it is unique for being the first-ever multi-season show about Jesus. This allows for increased contextualization of historical events and characters.

[Note from Amber: This is the first “grown-up” tv show my entire family watched together. However, it can get intense at times, so this is where parents need to be alert to tell kids to close their eyes and cover their ears. Does “The Chosen” take a lot of creative liberties? Definitely. But when watched alongside studying the gospels, it can help us better picture what we are reading, especially in its historical context.]
BibleProject’s Read Scripture Poster Collection Book contains graphic diagrams of every Old Testament and New Testament book in the Protestant tradition. These are printed versions of the diagrams featured in BibleProject’s Read Scripture videos.
Recommended for ages 5+
[Note from Amber: My family has the coffee table version of this book—which is no longer available. I have lost count of how many times I have caught a kid sprawled out of the floor, pouring over these graphic diagrams of Scripture.]
BibleProject’s How to Read the Bible: Literary Styles in Scripture coffee table book includes artwork and summaries for every video in BibleProject’s How to Read the Bible Video Series.
Not only is it visually engaging, it’s easily adaptable to age. Young readers can flip through and read the headers while more mature readers can read the paragraphs.

This long-awaited Bible storybook from respected scholar NT Wright invites families to explore connections between 140 Bible stories as you journey from the Garden of Eden at the beginning of the Bible’s story to the garden of the New Creation at the end.
Publisher recommends for ages 6-10.
[Note from Amber: Even though the publisher recommends this book for 6-10 year olds, I’ve read it aloud to my 10-17 year olds in our morning devotions. This is a great way to keep the whole span of the Bible’s stories fresh in our minds. Before I read each story, we locate where it takes place on OneStory’s StoryMap.]
The Gospel Story Hymnal is a beautifully illustrated and curated collection of over 150 well-known songs. They are organized to reflect the overarching narrative of the Bible: Creation; The Fall/Rebellion; Redemption; Already, but Not Yet; Restoration.
Not only is this an engaging hymnal for kids to sing along with, it also includes easy to read explanations of key concepts in each song. Lead sheets make them easy to play on both piano and guitar.

[Note from Amber: thanks to bulk pricing, I bought a copy for each of my kids and myself. They have spent many hours flipping through the songs and illustrations.]
This series of books by Kenneth Padgett and Shay Gregorie includes: The Story of God with Us, The Story of God Our King, and The Story of God Our Savior. Each beautifully illustrated book traces a foundational theological theme from Genesis to Revelation.
Recommended for ages 4+
[Note from Amber: This is the the type of book I wanted for my kids when they were younger. Fortunately, we never get too old for picture books! I have bought several to give as gifts!]
Seeds Kids Worship has recorded over 300 Scripture-based songs and videos. This is such an easy way to listen to and memorize Scripture!
[Note from Amber: My family started listening to Seeds CDs when my kids were preschool age and toddlers. Now, we often listen to Seeds playlists in the morning. Its just a great way to fill our home with God’s word.]
Worship & Wonder is an ecumenical organization created to give the opportunity for all people to hear and to engage in God’s stories. They recognize how the mystery and wondering of God and the stories of God are at the heart of faith formation. While their primary resource was originally used with children ages 3 to 7 years old in church settings, Worship & Wonder now uses these tools to teach students ages 2 to 100 in a huge range of settings.
[Note from Amber: OneStory is in a collaborative partnership to develop resources with Worship & Wonder! I am excited to share more soon via our newsletter. In the meantime, please check them out!]
